My grandparents lived on a farm as I was growing up. We have many great memories from our times on the farm. They lived an hour away so we only got to go down about once a week. They had horses, cows, chickens, goats, and cats. We loved to go down and collect the eggs, it was like a game to see who could get the most. We used to camp out down there on the weekends which was a lot of fun. We'd cook out eggs and sausage over the fire in the morning and it was even better since we had farm fresh eggs. As little kids we made a treehouse. My cousin Katelyn and I had a little kitchen set and makeup place up there and we hung out up there all the time. We had a big sandbox underneath the treehouse that we always played in too. They had a big swimming pool that we swam in all the time in the summer. My grandpa taught me how to swim in that pool. They had three goats. One for them, named Butterscotch, one for us, named Blacky, and one for my cousins, named Luke. They were a lot of fun but they ended up having to get rid of them because they eat everything. They'd come home and the goats would be on the roof eating the shingles. Winter was also a fun time at the farm. They had 13 acres and there was a lot of hills, perfect for sledding. We used to sled with cardboard boxes, which was quite interesting most of the time. When we got our pony, Sugar, we put her down on the farm with the other horses and she loved it! Eventually they had to move because it was just too much to not be able to see the family all the time so they moved up close to us. Which is nice but we'll always miss the good times on the farm.
